Claims in blue shading with claim numbers as “MCL XXXXXX”.
If you are going to do more than the rules list for “Recreational Mining”, enclosed as Generally Allowed Uses On State Land Information, you will need an APMA (Permit).
Use the claim MCL 664737 and the owner D. M. Turney on your APMA application. Plus, this claim could be profitable as a place to mine as this whole area has had past activity.
You may drive almost up to this claim as Old Mentasta Rd. goes thru Section 17 which is also one of our claimed square miles (4 claims) as is Section 18. Section 17 as well as Sections 8 and 5 above Section 17 are not presently open to mining claims as they have not been given to the state by the Federal Government yet.
The Old Mentasta Road may be hard to recognize as it is used as the driveway to the homes located at the right and left of the beginning of the road. There may be some trees growing, which appear to block the road right of way, however, it is useable and it is a right of way for access to the properties behind the two homes. It is located at approximately milepost 68 on the Tok Cut Off Highway. |
